Published on

January 12, 2011 : Late Parveen Babi, the all time popular Bollywood star who expired a few years ago in Mumbai was a girl from one of the most popular families in the district of Junagarh in Gujarat. The late star had property in her name there, which was inherited from her late father.

This building, which was an old palatial structure was reportedly given to Parveen Babi’s father by the Government on a lease and had been transferred in the late actress’s name after her father’s death.

However, after the actress herself met an untimely death due to her ill health, the property was under dispute with many of her relatives claiming rights over it. Notwithstanding all the litigations, there had been about ten relatives of the late star who had been living in the premises, since the actress had died.

Recently, the palatial structure which was almost in shambles due to neglect over the years, collapsed killing one of the relatives of the actress.

The building which had ten people inhabiting it had some of the members run out as soon as they heard the rumblings of falling concrete. Some were out for work but one member called Naseembanu Yunus Nagori,a 60 year old could not run out in time and was killed in the collapse.

The matter regarding the ownership is still in court.

Parveen Babi is still considered to be the Bollywood star who brought about the bohemian look very much into the limelight through her films. The movies that this radiant beauty is still remembered for are The Burning Train, Shaan, and Amar Akbar Anthony etc.
