For the first time, Rani Mukherjee is not playing the romantic lead in a film. In kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, the other actors in the film are Saif Ali khan and Amisha Patel. Rani plays the role on an angel. The angel herself loves Mary Poppins and Sound of Music.
Creating the difficult characters in films like Black, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was no doubt difficult but Rani does that with an awe. She states that she observes people and their behavior and gets inspired from them, but for her present role, she couldn’t find and angel to be inspired from. She calls Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic to be different and unique because, for the first time in Indian film industry will there be a woman with super natural powers doing stunts unlike Mr. India or Koi Milgaya. The blend of fantasy and reality makes Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic special.
As an angel, Rani cycles around the Milky Way and down the rainbow to reach planet earth. She also sits around different planets trying to create eclipses. Rani also jokingly says that she play a pranky angel who is a brat. She is show gliding across the pool when she falls in water in the film. Though there are emotional scenes in the film, Rani is not shown crying in any, which is something she seems to miss in the film. She even jokes Kunal Kohli to have saved lot of glycerin. She also has a very ordinary looking wardrobe in the film, which is not grand like a fairy. Rani quips that even if the costume isn’t special the acting definitely is!
Rani she is 12 years old in the industry, she feels no one is old or young for a role. She knows what kind of roles fit her personality and she doesn’t like to do any work that she won’t enjoy. She believed in star power and states firmly that there is nothing impossible. Rani likes the optimism in kids and she likes film that has kids to have a happy ending and juxtaposed with violence in the world, it is nice to see the good side of life in kids. She has played many romantic role before and what made her look up to this film is the fact that it gave her a chance to play something different.
As an actor, Rani has seen it all, both the high and lows of life. She doesn’t believe in complaining after shooting. For her the moment of the shoot decides the fate of the actor, if the shot is given hundred percent, it has to turn out well. She believes in focusing on her character and to perform without a fault because, once the shot is done, it is imprinted in the celluloid forever. Hinting on her rife with Saif, she professionally says that she has a good working relation with Saif and Kunal. For her Hum Tum is special because, she got her first Filmfare award for it.
