Producing Partners, FirstTake Entertainment and Caramel Films announced today that principal photography of Dr. Cabbie began on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. The film is presented by Salman Khan Being Human [SKBH] Productions. It will be directed by one of Canada’s most acclaimed Directors’ Jean-Francois Poulliot (La Grande Seduction). The principal cast includes Vinay Virmani, Adrianne Palicki (of GI Joe ‘Fame’), Kunal Nayyar, Lillete Dubey, Mircea Monroe, Rizwan Manji, Chris Diamantopoulos and will also launch newcomer Isabelle.
Dr. Cabbie is about an unemployed doctor turned cab driver becomes a local hero when he converts his taxi into a mobile clinic. The film will be presented by SKBH (Salman Khan Being Human) Productions, the production company owned by superstar Salman Khan. “Dr. Cabbie is the story of an Indian immigrant and it has an inherent universal appeal.”said Salman Khan speaking about the film.
Director Jean-Francois Pouliot says, “Dr. Cabbie is a timeless story that audiences will identify with, blending social issues and the journey to find one’s place in the world. We are thrilled to have such a talented cast who will tell this humorous and heart warming story.” The film is being released in India by Eros International.
