Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who plays a pivotal role in upcoming controversy struck Padmavati says Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a great filmmaker and we should be proud of him.
“There is no fear and one shouldn’t be scared either because I think this is a democratic country and everybody should be allowed to make films they want to make. We should be proud of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he is a great filmmaker and instead of being proud of him, we are forcing him to defend himself and his film. I think that is very sad. First, it happened with MF Hussain sir and now it is Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it shouldn’t happen” said Aditi Rao about the movie.
Master Painter MF Hussain faced a lot of burnt during Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities (with Tabu). The film was pulled out of cinemas a day after some Muslim organizations raised objections to one of the songs in it.
Further adding Aditi Rao expressed that we should be proud that despite constant onslaught and criticism artists like Sanjay Leela make such beautiful movies.
“We are so lucky to have such amazing artists in our country. We should value them and give them the space to create the amazing work that they create instead of making it so difficult for them. We put them through so much, we try to oppress them, and despite that, they are so amazing and passionate they continue to make these films and art that they are so passionate about. I think we should support them” added Aditi.
Karni Sena is demanding Ban on the film but Aditi Rao is confident that the movie will release.
She said, “Film will definitely release. I have complete faith in the system and the people of this country. Filmmakers have clarified thousands of times, Sanjay Sir has clarified, and actors have clarified, people are spreading rumors about the film saying it has this or that, there is nothing like that in the film”
“People aren’t paying attention to what’s been said by filmmakers and artists, they are just creating so much noise; there is nothing in the film”
Aditi Rao Hydari also shared a special message for the film. She said Sanjay Leela is an artist and we shouldn’t put him through all this.
“The kind of film Sanjay sir makes, it is an experience. He is such a talented filmmaker, who tells such beautiful stories with so much passion and love. Whether it is Indian music, dance, art or characters, he grooms them with so much mastery on celluloid, we should be proud of him and watch his film. He is an artist; we shouldn’t do this to him” added Aditi.
The film features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmavati, alongside Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji, with Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh in supporting roles.
The film is scheduled for release on 1 December 2017.
