Director of super successful film Shubh Mangal Savdhan, R.S. Prasanna attended success bash of his film on Tuesday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Prasanna stated that he is going to make sequel of Shubh Mangal Savdhan.
When asked if there are any plans to make sequel of the film, he said, “Definitely, I have already told a story to Anand ji. It will be very interesting. We were waiting for audience to tell us whether they want to listen to next story. We have received feedback from the audience and they loved Ayushmann and Bhumi’s characters in the film, so definitely sequel will happen”
“When I was making Tamil film, that time I conceived idea sequel. I feel it will be really funny, Right now there is only an idea and we will start working on a script and it will take time”
Talking about success of film, Prasanna said, “We always think while starting the film, that it will be a biggest hit. We also knew that people will appreciate our movie but we were also savdhan (cautious) about that we should be honest to the film and we should make a film which is family friendly and not vulgar so if we keep that in mind, I knew audience will like it but I never expected this kind of love and support for the film”
When asked whether it was challenge to remake a Tamil film, he said, “It was tough but luckily it has happened in right way. Anand sir was their so I knew as long as I do my job of directing movie honestly and correctly and if he likes the film then the audience will like the film”
Producer Krishika Lulla also commented on making sequel of the film, she said, “I feel small – small issues of marriage will connect to people’s heart so that’s we are looking for. Whatever we make it if it can connect to any of us like what is happening in our in daily life will be really fantastic”
Ayushmaan also shared his excitement working in a sequel, he said, “It’s amazing but I feel now the problem will be that what will be the ‘problem’ of part two. In the end of the film, we showed that his problem has sorted out, so in part two, he can become alfa male so we never know. We are looking for plot line because it’s a very quirky subject and it can be explored more”
Bhumi also commented of success of the film, she said, “I am extremely happy. It’s been such fantastic 30 days my life. I really feel like life is completely changed. I am happy the kind of love our film is getting as it was an off-beat, funny and quirky film. I am overwhelmed by the audience reaction and as far working in sequel, I am ready for part two, three, four, ten and everything. I am just ready but he (Prasanna) should make it quickly”
Shubh Mangal Savdhan is continuing to be the best bet of the week as even at limited screens and shows it is bringing in the best occupancy amongst all the films in the running. On Monday, it brought in Rs. 1.04 crore more and with this the overall numbers currently stand at Rs. 32.90 crore.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ is a remake of the Tamil film ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’ made in 2013. The story revolves around Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Sugandha (Bhumi Pednekar) who fall in love and plan to get married. But the twist in the tale comes when the groom discovers that he suffers from erectile dysfunction.
