Sisterly love lost between Vidya and Rani?

Published on

Filmmaker Deepa Mehta desired to work with Vidya Balan and had plans of casting her in a comic-venture paired opposite R. Madhavan two years ago. However, due to some reasons, the plan didn’t work out. She now wants to work with Vidya on the adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s book, ‘Midnight’s Children’.

Vidya even liked the script as well the role a lot. But, another catch has come up. Deepa wants Vidya to play Rani Mukherji’s sister in the film. And that is exactly where the problem lies because neither of two actresses wants to work with the other.

The animosity between Vidya and Rani goes back to when Pradeep Sarkar cast Rani in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. Sarkar had earlier made Parineeta with Vidya and made her a household name. But when he chose Rani over Vidya for his next film, Vidya was left shocked. While she had nothing bad to say about Sarkar, she was clearly hurt.

Deepa, who has no idea about any of this, still wants both of them to work together. Now who will turn the other down first? Will it be Vidya? Will it be Rani? Only time will tell.
