Sonu Sood, best known for his notable humanitarian contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic, has unveiled the source of inspiration for his forthcoming film, ‘Fateh’. The action-thriller is a reflection of real-life cybercrime incidents that plagued people throughout the pandemic period.
Sood’s benevolent acts during the crisis, particularly towards migrant workers, were substantial. However, the actor found that his altruism was being exploited, as scam artists began using his name to deceive individuals. In a conversation with ANI, Sood spoke about this unsettling discovery, which sparked the concept for ‘Fateh’.
“As I was involved in aiding people, I discovered numerous instances where individuals were being swindled under my name. Fake loans and fraudulent promises of assistance were rampant during the pandemic. I was troubled by the realization of this broad-spectrum deception,” Sood expressed.
The actor was particularly concerned about people in remote areas, who were especially susceptible to phishing scams. Acknowledging the pervasive issue of cybercrime in the country, Sood felt compelled to take action through his film. Thus, ‘Fateh’ was born out of these experiences.
The ‘Dabangg’ actor started penning down these cases of public deceit, turning them into narrative material for the film, aiming to educate people on how to protect themselves from such scams.
“’Fateh’ is rooted in the authentic experiences of these victims. We’ve completed 90% of the shooting, and only about 8-10 days of filming remain,” revealed the ‘Simba’ actor.
Sood, the recipient of the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) distinguished SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award, was widely celebrated for his various pandemic relief efforts, which ranged from assisting migrants in getting home to supplying medical equipment.
His talent for writing was nurtured early on, thanks to his mother’s literary background. “My mother would send me letters, and I’d respond with poetry. I didn’t realize the significance of it then, but after her passing, my writing took on a deeper meaning. Even now, when I write dialogues for my films, I feel the creative spark she instilled in me,” Sood reflected.
The actor, who will celebrate his birthday on July 30, eagerly anticipates the festivities with his fans, despite admitting a bit of nervousness. Aside from ‘Fateh’, Sood is also involved in two additional action films, which he predicts will be “very special.” The official release date of ‘Fateh’, directed by Vaibhav Mishra and starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Shivjyoti Rajput, and Vijay Raaz, is yet to be announced.
