May 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Tamil film producer PL Thenappan was stunned recently to find out that the Hindi movie Housefull is a copy of his Kamal Hassan and Prabhu Deva starrer Kadhala Kadhala, which has been directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao.

He claims that he has watched the Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull and that almost 60% of the scenes in the movie are the same as in Kadhal Kadhala. Seemingly Sajid Nadiadwala, the Bollywood film maker, had earlier approached him for the copyrights to remake the movie in Hindi. But the talks did not lead to a deal between them.
Thenappan has already filed a complaint against Sajid Nadiadwala for violating the copyrights with the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFCP). He has said that he will soon be taking legal action against Sajid Nadiadwala for the same, after consulting members of TFCP and his lawyers.
In the meantime, Sajid Nadiadwala maintains that Housefull is not a copy of Kadhala Kadhala. He is urging people to watch both the movies before passing comments. He also says that he wouldn’t mind watching Housefull with Thennappan himself and resolve all the matters with him.
