Konkana Sen Sharma‘s first-time direction ‘A Death in the Gunj‘ was screened at India in the world film festival, on Sunday. During media interaction, the actress said, as a director she could feel the ownership of the whole world of the story of the characters which made it fun.

Konkana, who has been appreciated internationally for her film, ‘A death in the Gunj’ when asked what is her take away from the film as an actor turned director she said, “I think it is the way you view your material and the ownership that you feel with your work is what defines it. With an actor, it is limited to the part. You can make it as big as you want, but the ownership is mainly over your role. And I feel like when I was behind the camera directing this film, I really fell the ownership of the whole world of the story, the characters, and the places they came from. Which is very liberating and very creative. It’s very exciting, you have this whole story, you play with so many things, and different elements, that made it really fun.”

While talking about being part of the ‘India in the world film festival’ Sharma said, “I am so pleased that “A death in the Gunj’ could participate in this ‘India in the world film festival’. I have seen some of the films participating, and I’m looking forward to watching others. I am glad that my film was chosen for this film festival because the audience who came to watch the film are very open to a different kind of content and happy to see things which are not necessarily mainstream or conventional.”
