Port Elizabeth, 2 May 2009 – Two young women, one a student from Johannesburg the other a model from Port Elizabeth are the latest cricket fans vying for the title Miss Bollywood SA.
From Port Elizabeth, stunner Gabriella Demetriades was chosen to represent the Deccan Chargers, in the next round of the contest.
She was picked out of the crowd that packed the stadium to watch the Deccan Chargers take on the Rajasthan Royals.
As a model Gabriella has travelled to several international destinations, including India.
“I’m fascinated with the country, there are extremes in terms of wealth and poverty, but the country is diverse, has great shopping and the people are friendly, kind and welcoming,†she added.
The 22-year-old believes South Africa has done an excellent job, considering the 2009 season of the DLF IPL was moved here at short notice.
When not working, Gabriella loves to cook and shop.
She would love to meet co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders and Bollywood bigshot, Shah Rukh Khan.
“I want him to teach me how to make a really great lamb Korma,†Gabriella added.
Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium hosted the second DLF IPL match for the day, between the Delhi Daredevils and the Chennai Super Kings.
At that match, 23-year-old Debbie Schwartz of Fourways was selected to go through to the Miss Bollywood SA competition.
“I’ve only recently taken to watching cricket. The atmosphere at the stadium is amazing,†she said.
The bubbly student thinks AB de Villiers is a great player.
The winner of Miss Bollywood SA will receive R50 000 in prize money, a business class trip to India and a role in a Bollywood movie.
“I’m so excited at the possibility of going to India and being in a movie,†exclaimed Debbie.
In the match at Wanderers on Saturday, the Delhi Daredevils were the designated “home†team. Once the Miss Bollywood SA contestant is chosen, she’s then associated with the team that enjoys that standing.
Debbie therefore will represent the Delhi Daredevils.

Miss Bollywood SA is a search for a DLF IPL fan with star quality, someone that stands out in a crowd.
The winner will receive a guided tour through Bollywood, a business class trip to India, R50 000 in cash and other prizes in the 2009 tournament’s Miss Bollywood SA competition.
A total of 48 winners will be chosen from the crowds at all of the eight venues around the country that host IPL matches. Winners are shown on the big screen at every match during the second five-minute break and welcomed onto the performers’ stage at the ground.
Each DLF IPL match has a designated “home†team, the Miss Bollywood SA contestant selected during that game will be associated with the side that enjoys that status.
Each team will be represented by six contestants.
