In an insightful interaction, actor Varun Dhawan opens up about his professional journey with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, their current venture ‘Bawaal’, and anticipates future projects with the celebrated producer. The pair’s collaboration has yielded prominent successes, and Dhawan relishes the possibility of repeating the same magic in the years to come.
Discussing the experience of working alongside Nadiadwala, Dhawan was full of praise and admiration. He stated, “Working on ‘Bawaal’ was my third project under the aegis of Sajid sir, and this one unquestionably stands out as the most distinctive and dear to my heart. Right from the inception, he maintained a staunch belief that the film would create ripples globally, and watching it now reigning supreme on charts worldwide has indeed been a remarkable experience.”
He further recounted how Nadiadwala was resolute in his conviction that Varun Dhawan’s portrayal in ‘Bawaal‘ could surpass his previous performances, and with a director like Nitesh Tiwari at the helm, it certainly extracted a facet of Dhawan that audiences had never witnessed before.
Speaking about future prospects of working with Nadiadwala, Varun Dhawan reflected, “My father holds immense respect for Sajid sir, and they’ve always motivated each other to strive for excellence. I persistently persuade Sajid sir to venture into directing a film. I’m confident that, in the future, you’ll witness my return under the NGE banner for an endeavor even more monumental.”
‘Bawaal’ is a poignant romantic drama set against the dramatic canvas of World War 2, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the acclaimed director of blockbuster movies like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Chhichhore’.
The film features Dhawan in the role of a history teacher who accompanies Janhvi Kapoor’s character on an expedition to Europe, visiting several World War 2 sites. The filming process was a multinational venture, with shoot locations spanning Paris, Berlin, Poland, Amsterdam, Krakow, Warsaw as well as Lucknow and two other Indian cities.
The film’s production was a massive undertaking, involving a team of over 700 personnel, including action directors and stuntmen hired specifically from Germany. ‘Bawaal’ was released for streaming on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video, on July 21st.
