Bollywood superstar director Karan Johar admitted that he had to beg in his first movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Eight heroines rejected the role of Tina Malhotra before it was finally portrayed by Rani Mukerji.

Karan Johar was so worried that he may have to put on a short skirt and play the character. Eventually it was Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan who recommended Rani after seeing her expressions in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat.

That’s why he approached Rani, who was shooting Ghulam then. Even for Salman Khan‘s part, he had to literally beg him to come onboard. Finally everything fell in place and we got an excellent movie that everyone loves. So it was all worth it!
