World’s first cricket gaming portal launched

Mumbai, July 23 (IANS) A website claiming to be the world’s first cricket gaming portal was launched here Wednesday, aiming to cash in on the newfound genre of ‘cricketainment’. The site, www.CricContest.com, promoted by brothers Ashok Wadhwa and Anoop Wadhwa of content providers RAPL Television, was launched by well-known cricket commentator and presenter Gautam Bhimani.

Gaming will commence from the second India-Sri Lanka Test match that begins July 31, but the trial run commenced Wednesday. After registering online, gamers will initially get 10,000 points free for virtual betting. No money is involved and bets can be placed only with points.

Gamers can bet on all forms of cricket – Test matches, one-dayers and Twenty20 matches. “Cricket is pretty much an all-year round sport. There is almost always a Test match series or a one-day cricket tournament taking place in some part of the world. So, for cricket lovers, there’s a whole lot of games they can choose from,” Ashok Wadhwa said at the launch.

“CricContest.com is absolutely unique and comprehensive cricket gaming portal. Play cricket with a little twist and experience the adrenaline rush,” Anoop Wadhwa added. CricContest.com will soon launch another first – a daily animated serial on the Internet titled “Gloves & Pads”.

“Every story will be carried forward in eight episodes of two-and-a-half minutes duration each, uploaded over a period of two weeks every Monday to Thursday,” the Wadhwa brothers disclosed.
