Mumbai, November 14th, 2008: Anandi & Jagdish of ‘Balika Vadhu’, a popular show on COLORS, spent children’s day with the kids of SMILE Foundation, a national level development organisation working for the welfare of underprivileged children across India. The children of SMILE foundation were overjoyed when they came face to face with Avika Gor – Anandi and Avinash Mukherjee – Jagdish in their premises.

In an endeavor to make this day special and reach out to the underprivileged section of the society, Anandi & Jagdish wished to celebrate Children’s Day with the kids of the SMILE foundation. The enthusiastic kids left no stone unturned vying for the attention of the young stars of Balika Vadhu. They were spotted chatting with Anandi and playing a variety of games with Jagdish. Not only this, they were also happy to receive sweets from both of them.

A thrilled Anandi said “It is a special moment for me and I am touched with this amazing gesture extended to me by these kids. I had a great time celebrating Children’s Day with them today. I am thankful to COLORS and SMILE Foundation for making this day extra-special for me and giving me an opportunity to meet them.”

To this Jagdish added “It was a day filled with fun and frolic for me. I had a great time being with these children and it gave me immense happiness to add a smile on the face of these kids. The feeling was truly amazing!! Being a kid, Children’s Day always meant receiving gifts and pampering, but today has been a great day wherein the feeling of giving has been better than the feeling of receiving.”

Ashvini Yardi, Programming Head – COLORS said “Childhood is about innocence and joy. Through this initiative, we would like to celebrate this joy with the children who are special and teach the value of sharing with others. Today more than ever, it’s important to give back to the society that we live in. This is a humanitarian cause, one of the many initiatives taken up by COLORS. It is a small gesture to express that we at COLORS care for the society.”

On Children’s Day tribute is paid to all children in the world. Children win over our hearts with their angelic eyes and innocent smiles. It makes one realize that maybe that’s the way God wanted us to be.

Children’s day is special day for the children. Universally, Children’s Day is celebrated on 20th November, every year.
