It all started from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi where the lead actor Mihir was killed and the story took the unexpected turn. The viewers were taken by surprise, curious to know what will happen to the Virani family now, which helped in raising the TRP bar of the show. Since then many shows on television followed the trend.
The latest one to adopt the trend is Colour’s show Bandhan Saat Janamon Kka in which their protagonist Jhanvi or Gun-gun gets killed in a stampede.
The story writer of the show, Mr. Sampurn Anand disagrees to an extent by saying, “It is not actually the TRP. Sometimes there are sudden twists and turns in the show which takes the audience by surprise. It is in short, a part and parcel of the show that in turn generates the TRP automatically.
“Doing the unexpected brings in spice to the show and generates more attention from the viewers”, adds Sampurn.
When asked if Jhanvi too will make a comeback later on the show, as how Amar (Mihir) did in Kyunki…Sampurn Anand said, “No comments” and preferred to keep mum.
