Noted creator, writer, and director Zoya Akhtar of the critically acclaimed drama series ‘Made In Heaven’ has revealed how the fervor of fans on social media channels contributed to an unexpected kind of pressure for the release of the show’s second season.
Zoya, along with the series’ co-writer, co-creator, and co-director Reema Kagti, made this revelation during a media interaction at the launch event for the trailer of ‘Made In Heaven’ Season 2, held in Mumbai.
Asked about her experiences with the maiden season and the anticipation for the forthcoming second season, Zoya commented, “Our initial expectations were really modest. We just embarked on this journey to create a show that was one of the first of its kind to emerge from India.”
The collaboration with Aparna Purohit, she added, was an essential part of the process. Aparna was fully supportive of all their creative decisions, even though the final reception of the show remained uncertain. She recalled, “When the show first aired and started getting attention, it was an extremely nerve-wracking time for us.”
However, Zoya soon emphasized that ‘Made In Heaven’ has managed to cultivate “a highly dedicated fan base.” No matter what content she posts, queries about ‘Made In Heaven’ consistently follow. Over time, the prolonged wait for the second season has led to an increasing amount of social media trolling. Zoya confessed, “I wanted the show to be released as soon as possible to pacify the fans who were growing restless. It’s heartening, though, to see how committed the fans have remained to the show. I’m grateful they’ve held on to it and haven’t let it slip from their memories.”
The second season of ‘Made In Heaven’ is being spearheaded by an accomplished directorial team, including Alankrita Shrivastava, Neeraj Ghaywan, Nitya Mehra, Reema Kagti, and Zoya Akhtar herself. It stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Vijay Raaz, who will reprise their roles from the first season. New actors such as Mona Singh, Ishwak Singh, and Trinetra Haldar are set to join the ensemble.
The second season of ‘Made In Heaven’ is all set for a grand release on Amazon Prime India on August 10.
