“It is with a sad and heavy heart to inform you our very own Marvin Kaplan passed away today (Wednesday) at 5 a.m. in his sleep. We loved Marvin. He will truly be missed,” the statement read.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Kaplan made his film debut in 1949’s “Adam’s Rib” starring Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. He also featured in a variety of films, TV shows and animated series throughout his six decade long career.

Apart from “Top Cat,” Kaplan was well-known for his recurring role on TV series “Alice” as Henry Beesmeyer. He also appeared in small roles in films such as “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,” “The Great Race” and “A New Kind of Love.”
