After a soulful rendition of “Maula mere maula” for the movie “Anwar”, Rathod has sung another Sufi song titled “Teri justajoo” that he says is an extension of the previous one. “‘Teri Justajoo’ is a Sufi song and has been compiled by music director Kuldip Singh’s son Harpreet. This song is actually an extension of my song ‘Maula mere maula’,” Rathod told IANS.

Rathod, known for his popular numbers like “Tere liye” in “Veer-Zaara”and “Zindagi maut na ban jaye” in Aamir Khan starrer “Sarfarosh”, says he has a soft corner for Sufi songs.

“I have always had an inclination towards Sufi songs and it is my first love. Even this new album is a Sufiana one,” Rathod said.

The Sufi flavour is dominating Bollywood music now, says the singer.

“It is a cycle. During 1980-85, ghazals were popular. Later techno music gained popularity and disco songs gained momentum. These days it is Sufi songs. It is a good thing,” Rathod said.
