January 27, 2011 : The third week of first month of 2011 has come up as a growing week for the television channels in the TAM data. However, the highest gainer in the line is Star Plus and it has happened mainly due to the screening of the Star Screen Awards.

The fourth week of TAM 2011 has come as a surprise for Star Plus. It has been able to garner 360 GRPs as compared to 326 in the 3rd week. The Hindi general entertainment channel scored 5.4 TVRs for the telecast of Star Screen Awards 2011. During the awards, the channel announced about the launch of 3 weekend shows and also released its women anthem ‘Tu Hi Tu’.

The twist in its shows like ‘Maan Ki Awaaj-Pratigya’ has also helped to improve the scores. Star Screen Awards 2011 attracted lots of viewers because of its weekend schedule.

On the other hand, other leading channels like Colors, Zee TV and Sony TV have also improved their GRPs on the TAM people meter. On last week 276, Colors has gathered 243 GRPs and it became No.2 at GEC because of the premiere of Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai starrer Action Replay. It contributed 3.5 TVRs to take it No. 2.

Zee TV has also recovered some amount by garnering 235 GRPs, which was at 222 in the third week of 2011. Sony TV has been able to gain 15 GRPs this week because of the growing popularity of ‘Jhalak Dikkhla Ja’.
