Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra attended Grace Power brand Awards on Monday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Mehra stated that he has dream cast in his upcoming produced film Fanney Khan.
Talking about his upcoming film Fanney Khan which being produced by him, Mehra said, “I am always happy and proud to work with Divya Dutta. Fanney Khan is film which I am producing. It is directed by debutant director Atul Manjarekar. It’s his dream and vision and I am supporting that. We have dream cast. There is Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Divta Dutta and Rajkummar Rao in the film Music of the film is composed by Amit Trivedi so donning a producer’s hat with such wonderful team is really a great experience”
When asked Mehra, his view on current state of awards shows where it is said that awards show has become fake or partial, Mehra said, “You don’t have to get serious about these things. Appreciation is always very good whether it comes from any quarters. Unfortunately, lot of awards today are being sponsored by big companies and the TV channels so somewhere down the line they have been muscled down towards being a TV show rather purely an award function”
“Having said that, the biggest award is the audience of the world and the country. For me, that is the biggest award. The kind of love we get from media and audience you can’t beat that as award”
Merha also commented about increasing number of professionals in the industry who are multi-talented be it at writing, direction, singing and acting, he said, “There is nothing new about it. There have been dignitaries like V. Shantaram, Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt to name a few. There are multi-talented and multi-faceted people then to realize the optimum and to realize the best inside them, they tend to express in various departments of film making whether it s direction, writing, acting or singing so there is nothing new about it”
Talking about Grace Power brand award, Mehra said, “This is first edition of power brand award. The awardees of this award are chosen by film journalist who gives all their life to films. They watch films all day and make analysis on that so if an award is given by them so I am really happy”
Fanney Khan is directed by debutant Atul Manjrekar, is a musical comedy film which features Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles.
Anil, who had earlier featured with Aishwarya in Taal, will appear together on screen after 17 long years.
Fanney Khan, produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, KriArj Entertainment and T-Series, is an official remake of the Oscar nominated Dutch 2000 film Everybody’s Famous!.
It is scheduled for a worldwide release in April 2018.
