Zoya Hussain was spotted at a Press conference for her debut movie ‘Mukkabaaz’ here in Mumbai. During Media interaction, the newbie actress Zoya talked about her character, which was difficult and she learned sign language to get it right.
“It was difficult, but we wanted this to be natural, real and relatable, because she should look like a real person. She shouldn’t look like a character and definitely not caricature. We all have seen deaf people, but she is mute, so she can listen to everything, she knows about volume and little details”
“She is not loud but at the same time her aggression comes from her frustration, as people don’t understand her. She is saying what she wants to say, but people don’t understand her. If I can understand you, why aren’t you trying to understand me? Her communication frustration and top of that she is a girl, in the type of setting she lives, which too are a problem in itself. So her frustration comes from that” added Zoya.
Zoya also added that she took training in sign language for months with an expert to get the nuisance right.
“We wanted the sign language in a flow, just like thoughts, easily flowing. And my teacher Anita Gala, she is fantastic. I did my training with her for months” said Zoya.
