November 22, 2010 : After days of playing the ‘guessing game’, Eva Longoria has finally filed the divorce papers citing irreconcilable differences for the split, seeking spousal support and requesting her name to be restored to Eva Jacqueline Longoria, her maiden name. The reason for this split is attributed to a ‘mystery lady’ who apparently is none other than Tony’s teammate Brent Barry’s wife Erin Barry. Brent is also fighting a divorce battle with his wife. Eva has revealed to Mario Lopez, the ‘Extra’ host, that she has found hundreds of text messages from the other woman on Tony’s phone.
It is reported that Eva discovered her husband has been sending text messages to Erin for nearly a year and there are hundreds of texts in just one month. Eva has meanwhile broken her stoic silence and tweeted on her Twitter page, “It is with great sadness that after seven years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness”. The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star is said to be devastated by the separation caused by Tony’s infidelity but is trying to maintain her calm and appear strong.
It is reported that Tony had Erin’s personal information stored in an electronic program that only he could access. But one day he forgot to close the program and that’s when Eva found it. It was a double shot for her because not only did she find all the information but Eva also realized immediately that Tony had taken steps to hide it from her. The fact that Tony had been hiding Erin’s information and their correspondence made Eva feel like he had been lying to her for months, and basically he had been.
