December 11, 2010 : Star Plus launched the fourth season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ just a week after the launch of Colors’ popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss season 4’. Since the beginning, the two shows were in the run of the TRPs to beat each other even though both belong to different genres. Throughout when KBC was aired, it has faced tough competition from ‘Bigg Boss’ because of their same timing.
The TRPs of KBC has always remained constant and Bigg Boss has faced numerous ups and downs throughout this two month journey. However, the finale episode of KBC, which was aired on Thursday, was the ultimate winner as it reached the highest TRP of 5.5 against 2.7 for Bigg Boss. It shows that megastar Amitabh Bachchan is still the king when it comes to popularity. Salman Khan has yet to go miles to reach the status of Big B.
The main reason behind this highest TRP was the reunion of Jay-Veeru of Sholay on the sets of KBC on the final episode. Veteran star Dharmendra was on the sets of KBC charming the viewers and the live audience.
There was only one episode of ‘Bigg Boss’, which gave a good competition to KBC and it was during the entry of ‘Baywatch babe’ Pamela Anderson. Bigg Boss was almost losing its charm so they brought a twist with Sara Khan and Ali Merchant’s marriage and then inviting Pamela as the celebrity guest inside the house for two days.
KBC is a show, which is aimed at family viewing whereas Bigg Boss has already faced the ire from various sectors for its often adult content. However, KBC has taken away the lion’s share on the last day thus beating Bigg Boss in a big way!
