November 18, 2010 : Child artists Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez have announced their retirement from television. While ‘Hannah Montana’ star Miley Cyrus had already made known her plans to quit the small screen this year summer, the decision of the Jonas Brothers came as a big surprise to the fans of Joe, Nick and Kevin. Selena Gomez’s farewell on the other hand, is largely because of the fact that the producers of her television show have been trying to find a replacement for the actress in their upcoming series.
It looks like all three entities are taking their careers in music a little too seriously. While Miley Cyrus has achieved quite a name for herself in the US music circuit, the Jonas Brothers too are not to be left far behind. Selena Gomez is also a successful singer and song writer, while she also manages to continue her philanthropic services as the goodwill ambassador of UNICEF.
Miley Cyrus rose to fame with her portrayal of ‘Hannah Montana’ on Disney Channel but chose to conclude her stint on television after music came into her life. Reports claim that the Jonas Brothers too, are very busy with their packed schedule, getting no time to be back for their shoot with Disney. Selena Gomez has been a popular face in the Disney series ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’, and though the actress has not made any official announcement about her retirement from TV, reports claim that with her peers choosing to move forward in life, Selena too, will concentrate on her career in music after the end of this season.
This comes across as sad news for children and teenagers, and we can only hope to see them more on the music scene.
