‘Weeds’ Likely To End With Seventh Season In 2011

November 17, 2010 : ‘Weeds’ represents a popular American (black) comedic/dramatic series. It was started by Jenji Kohan in 2005 and financed by Lionsgate Television. It revolves around a widow, Nancy Botwin, who has two sons, Shane and Silas. Nancy ultimately has to resort to vending cannabis to assist her family subsequent to her husband’s unforeseen demise. The 13th episode i.e. the ultimate episode of its sixth season was telecast on November 15,  titled ‘Theoretical Love Is Not Dead’.

In this episode, Nancy, enacted by Mary-Louise Parker, put herself under the guillotine by asserting her culpability for Pilar’s slaughter. She was ultimately observed surrounded by FBI officers at the airport while her family was on a jet going towards Europe. It appears as if Nancy is devoid of choices. Jenji Kohan has mentioned that getting enmeshed in tricky situations is not something novel for Nancy. The query is that will the audience now witness Nancy plotting a season-long jailbreak in 2011.

The cable television network, Showtime, has given its go-ahead to the program’s makers for its seventh season. Kohan, on being asked whether the 7th will be the program’s ultimate season, predicted the same, uttering that her, as well as the protagonists’ contract, is up for renewal in 2011. She desires to quit on a triumphant note. Nevertheless, Showtime’s representative did not overrule the possibility of an eight season.

Kohan has admitted that she has two versions in his mind, either of which can be utilized to conclude ‘Weeds’. She refused to unambiguously unveil the two versions. Kohan expressed that the program’s possible end will be a source of gloom since she has formed a strong bond with the competent squad of ‘Weeds’, with which she yearns to function in her future endeavors as she diversifies as a writer. She has lavishly lauded the actors in ‘Weeds’.

Kohan asserted to TVGuide that she does not know whether he subscribes to redemption. The mantra of ‘Weeds’ has always been that persons don’t transform, which she would like to maintain. She believed that it was premature to remark that redemption will be the slogan of ‘Weeds’ in its seventh season.

In 2006, Kohan acquired a ‘Writers Guild of America Award’ for her excellent functioning on the pilot episode. ‘Weeds’ has also been chosen as a nominee for nine Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes and several others.
