Ashish N. Soni to present WIFW finale

Designer Ashish N. Soni will present the grand finale at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Spring Summer 2014 edition later this month.

He will present La Dolce Vita, a line inspired by Hollywood glamour.

“It gives me tremendous pleasure to be chosen as the grand finale designer for the upcoming edition of WIFW Spring-Summer 2014 and the collaboration with this event is extremely inspiring and is always a boost for any designer’s creative juices,” Soni said in a statement.

“I have always been a big supporter of the WIFW and in my mind it is the premier platform for fashion in India for both upcoming and as well as established labels. My collection is titled La Dolce Vita, and I will be creating a line of stylistic clothing with a glamorous edge for both men and women,” he added.

The women’s line, comprising dresses, jackets, trousers, shirts and skirts, is an ode to the nonchalance and sensuality of the actresses from the 1950s.

The men’s collection will showcase Soni’s interpretation of tuxedo suits and dinner jackets perfect for modern black tie events.

As the grand finale designer, Soni will also create an exclusive collection for Wills Signature, which will be retailed from Wills Lifestyle stores across the country.

The finale of the WIFW Spring-Summer 2014 edition, organised by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), will be held Oct 13 at Pragati Maidan.

FDCI president Sunil Sethi said: “We are delighted that Ashish Soni is back after a hiatus to do the finale show at WIFW SS 2014. I have worked with him during his participation at the New York Fashion Week.

“His ‘less is more’ philosophy has made him a favourite among those who value minimalism, fit and superlative tailoring over bling. I’m sure Ashish, with his international experience, will showcase a powerful collection that will spearhead the creation of a new design aesthetic, widening the breadth of possibilities as he brings with him a treasured wealth of excellence.”

As many as 113 designers will showcase their collections on the ramp and racks at the five-day extravaganza, which will be opened by Masaba Gupta and Anupama Dayal Oct 9.
