Skin treatments for men to spruce up this festive season

Published on

Ahead of the festive season, men can go for treatments like photofacial, microdermabrasion and chemical peels to get rid of excessive sun damage on skin and to get acne scars or blackheads removed, suggests an expert.

Thirumal Raj, CEO and founder of Advanced Beauty and Cosmetic clinic, has suggested several treatments:

* Photofacial: This is a skin rejuvenation treatment done to minimise wrinkles, age spots and other signs of ageing.

It helps getting rid of excessive sun damage on skin along with broken capillaries, acne, brown spots and birth marks. Men should ideally shave four to five hours prior to the treatment. This is a quick and painless treatment that assures effective results in 15 days.

* Microdermabrasion: This non-surgical cosmetic procedure helps to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells.

Exfoliation materials like aluminium crystals or diamond flakes are used along with a machine-based suction to gently lift up the skin. This skin treatment erases acne scars, removes blackheads and gives a polished look to the skin.

A face treatment can last up to 30 minutes and if you’re keen to get other parts of the body treated, then it may last an hour.

* Chemical peels: One of the economical ways to reduce fine lines under the eyes or around the mouth and treat your acne-prone skin is by opting for chemical peel treatment.

The dead skin layer peels off and what you get is smoother and less-wrinkled youthful skin. This is a non-fussy procedure, which may take up to 30 minutes.

* Laser hair reduction: All those men looking for fuzz-free back and chest, or keen to get rid of excess hair on the face, shoulders and ears, laser treatment works best for you.

The treatment helps to remove unwanted beard hair from the neck and cheeks. The treatment reduces the thickness of the hair and neatens the beard line. This reduces the frequency of shaving and diminishes rashes and unkempt hair.

There are other minimally invasive treatments for treating dark circles, sun spots, sagging jaw line and more. Even anti-wrinkle treatment such as Botox, and soft tissue fillers to fill hollow areas are quite popular among men to acquire youthful skin.
