Ace designer Payal Pratap’s latest collection aptly titled Twist in my Sobriety lit up the runway at the 28th edition of Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2017.

The designer showcased her collection on Day Two of the five-day gala, which commenced on Wednesday and is being held at the NSIC ground in Okhla.

Pratap, who has styled the likes of Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, showcased over 30 garments, which featured a huge use of stitches in patchwork and crocheted patterns.

Each garment saw a heavy use of floral work and the silhouettes, slowly moved from saris, jackets, dresses, peplums, jumpsuits, dhotis and cropped boleros.

Talking about her collection, Pratap told reporters: “I just called it a Twist in my Sobriety. I just wanted to do something from my heart and I felt to work with monal tones and neutral tones…For me a red and blue is neutral. So I wanted to keep it simple and clutter-free, but at the same time I am fascinated by craft embroideries, stitches.”

The designer used fabrics such as linen, cotton, silk chanderis and khadi.

“The silhouettes were inspired by India Modern and global…global traveller… So the inspiration came very naturally to me,” she said.

Before Pratap showcased her collection, designer Anavila Misra showcased her latest collection When I look back tomorrow from her eponymous label.

The designer showcased as many as 34 collections, which saw an abundance of saris. The highlight for the show was the pocketed-saris which come across as an everyday wear for a person.

“I am a sari designer. We focus on saris and we started introducing garments just now in our collection…That essentially is the personality of the brand itself. We focus on something which is ageless and timeless…So that was the entire idea behind the collection,” Misra told IANS.

The designer’s show had no showstopper, but Misra says the models and their hard work was her muse.

“I didn’t want to take the limelight away from the models. They really work hard,” she added.

The five-day fashion gala, which started on October 12 will conclude on Sunday. Ace designers like Masaba Gupta, Malini Ramani and Rajesh Pratap Singh will be showcasing their latest collections too.
