Popular social media app musical.ly, which is used for creating, sharing and discovering videos and has over 240 million users globally, will soon make its debut in India.

The app allows users to create and edit videos by adding effects to them.

Some of the internationally known singers available on the app include Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Maroon 5.

The app earlier partnered with the film “Jagga Jasoos” in India and held a contest where winners got a chance to create videos with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

“Considering the potential in India, we are not only committed to expand our creator base in India but also diversify the content creation on our platform as our audience is highly engaged in it. We look forward to work with the creators and partners who share the same passion and energy,” Eric Zhou, Head of Global Operations for musical.ly, said in a statement.

The app, which already has over 8 million organic users in India, has a Creator Incubation Program that helps upcoming talent to grow.

Raj Mishra, Business Head (India) for musical.ly, said: “The app is a one of its kind platform that genuinely encourages youth to showcase their talent through their personal and creative interpretations of some of the most popular soundtracks in the world today.”

“Through this unique platform, we aim to mentor and incubate a host of talented individuals, help them to maximize their potential on social media.”
